Leaves

Our next door neighbor has the most beautiful oak tree that drops TONS of leaves every fall. He was raking them all up this past weekend, so we thought we'd go over and see what Holden thought of them.

He wasn't too sure of them. Mainly just tried to eat them.
And just sat there looking hurt and confused when we plopped him down in them. Gotta dirty the boy up, right?

So, we walked back over to our yard where the leaves are still on the trees.
He loves looking at all of the colors.
And he loves playing in the grass that is finally growing in our yard. We have spent entirely too much time and water to grow grass in a very dry year. We are way too excited about this grass now. I will have to post before and after pictures of the yard so you can appreciate it too.
And then I got one of my favorite pics yet...

Fuzz

His hair is starting to get a little OOC. He constantly looks like he has a static problem or just stuck his finger in a socket.

The beginnings of a fro, maybe?

I'm loving it...

Firsts

This past weekend, we fed Holden his first rice cereal. He wasn't so much a fan (as you can see by his unpleasant faces). And I don't think he actually swallowed any of it. We will keep trying to get him to like it... and will enjoy laughing at him in the meantime.

The unsuspecting victim right before his first bite.

He also started rolling over last week and I got it on video once. It doesn't look all that impressive since he just falls over more than pushes himself over. I was very proud of my boy though... hence the annoying squealing voice.

Giggles

Holden has been laughing more and more recently. His little giggles are pretty much our new favorite thing. Sometimes he gets to laughing so hard that he almost can't breathe. And sometimes he laughs when he inhales and sounds soooo dorky. I love it. I kinda have this weird desire for him to be a dork. So I'm really liking his dorky laugh.

We have tried to catch it on camera multiple times, but have been very unsuccessful. Every time he sees the blinking light and hears the camera being turned on he immediately gets distracted and it is over.

He thinks Carson is particularly funny. I tell myself that he is just tired of looking at my face all day and therefore prefers Carson. Or maybe Carson just looks funny:)

Some of these pictures are off-center because I was taking them from behind my back so he wouldn't see the camera and quit. I didn't purposefully cut off his chin and the side of his face.

Wait for it...

Wait for it...
And here we go...

Patio

Did I mention that another tree fell?

I'm not joking.

Holden was like 8 days old or something. My mom was in town and we heard a huge crash and saw birds flying everywhere. It was an all-too-familiar noise. Is it weird that I have now actually heard 3 trees fall within 12 months of living here? But on top of those 3 falling, we have had two more that we've had to have limbs chopped on and one more taken down altogether. It stinks because that was one of my favorite things about this house... all the old trees.

I didn't take pictures of the latest one though. Pictures of fallen trees are not very interesting to me anymore.

Carson decided that we had spent too much money on trees recently and enlisted his friends to help him chop it up. This is the only picture I snapped. I like it because it looks like Carson just stood there and let Thomas and Blake do all the work:)

All that to say... our patio is a very safe place now. No possibilities of falling trees anywhere anymore. They are all gone.

We are starting to eat dinner out there a lot and are really enjoying it with the cooler weather. I took some shots of Holdycakes and Carson out there last week after dinner.
